Blog Tour: Keep Me Still by Caisey Quinn

Layla Flaherty had the perfect life, or close to it. Until a stranger gunned her parents down right in front of her, leaving her with seizure inducing PTSD. After years of trying to pass as normal and failing miserably, she
resigns herself to being invisible. But new to town Landen O’Brien sees her, and he likes what he sees. Much to Layla’s surprise, he doesn’t freak out when she has a seizure in front of him. He does the exact opposite, calming her until the tremors subside. But Landen has secrets of his own. Secrets that both bind them together and tear them apart.

Scarred by loss, Layla leaves her hometown of Hope Springs, Georgia, hoping to put her painful past behind her and start over in college in California. When she runs into Landen at freshmen orientation, she has a choice to make. Reinforce those steel walls she's built up around herself or give the only boy who can keep her still a second chance.

Landen’s more than ready to tear down those walls but this time when they come crashing down, they might bury her.

Meagan's Review:

Let me just say that Caisey Quinn knows how to pack a punch. OMG this book was amazing. So there are 3 parts to this book and each is like it's own novella; Past, Present, and Future and each part is....ahhh there are not even words for it.

Okay so the first part Landen and Layla are both in high school. Layla....she's been through a lot in her life and because of what happened in the past she still has things that are affecting her while she' is in high school. And kids are mean. She doesn't have any friends and is pretty much invisible to everyone around her. That is until Landen. So Landen has recently moved to the area leaving another girl behind because of his dad's military career. Saying that he will keep in touch, but most likely won't. The moment Layla walks through the doors of school Landen and a goner. He can't look away from her and for Landen this isn't like before. He actually wants to get to know her and date her and in a sense break her and love her...he just may not realize that right away, but that's what happens.

Layla doesn't trust Landen right away. He has to work at it...a lot. And when Landen sees first hand what Layla's past brings to her present....he doesn't run away. He stand right by her side and falls in love with her more. Everything seems to be going great until Thanksgiving happens. So Landen has a secret that he's been keeping from everyone. His home life isn't great...good or even decent. It's terrible and on Thanksgiving both Layla and her aunt experience it first hand. After this a decision is made that Landen and his mom are moving back to Colorado and before he gets a chance to tell Layla it's thrown in her face and that doesn't end well. In fact the entire situation had me in tears because the heartbreak was sooo real and palpable. And that's the end of the first part. I got.....anxious for a moment until I realized there was a part 2.

We move ahead into the future and Layla is going to college. Ready to start life and begin new where no one knows about her "condition" or anything about her past. Her roomate is different, but I LOVE HER!!!! So we are moving along experiencing the college experience and WHAM the past comes back full force!!! Landen is at the same college playing soccer. Coincidence? Maybe. Fate? Possibly. Second chance? Definitely. College life is interesting to read about because Landen sees red and I mean RED whenever some guy even attempts to talk to Layla. He's determined to win her back. Sweet right? Well again Landen has a secret....and it's nothing small's a pretty big one. After some hard work Layla realizes that she's still in love with Landen and decides that she is going to give him her first everything....first kiss....first love...first touch....and something even more precious to her. Well you know what they say about secrets.....they always have a way of coming out. And unfortunately for Landen his comes out.....along with a whole other side of him we didn't see in high school. After being told what's what Landen is given an opportunity to play soccer in Spain. He packs a bag and goes to the airport to start a new life. Now I'd love to really leave the cliff hanger here, but there's a third part to this story to unfortunately I can't. But the how's of'll have to read that for yourself. :)

It's been 3 years. Landen and Layla have made it 3 years.....this is both happy and sad...borrowed time is hard to live with. Layla receives a call from her aunt and is told that there's a possible miracle out there and that her and Landen need to get on a plane. Landen is for this and is ready to move until Layla gives him the shock of his life and then tells him no. I thought my heart was broken at the end of Past and then I was given hope at the end of Present....only to have my heart ripped out again at the beginning of Future. Along with this we also see that side of Landen that is becoming more and more permanent and scary. Landen has a temper on him and while he'd never hit Layla....the walls don't fair so well. More than that I've always been a woman who believe that a man should NEVER EVER raise a hand to a woman. And that any type of behavior that leads to that or anything of that nature is not something to live with. But I will say I now have a better understanding of why in some circumstances woman stay and put up with it. Layla gave me this understanding and insight and I kind of see it differently now. However, that still doesn't excuse it.

Anyways Landen again is hiding stuff....boy never learns. And eventually Layla has had her fill and she gives him an ultimatum; get your shit together or she's gone. And honestly good for her. Will Landen learn to control his temper? Will they ever be able to work through this? Is too much piling up? Did Landen finally break Layla and her optimism and hope? Will fate keep bringing these two together only to tear them a part? Will Layla be alive in the next 3 months? 6 months? or 1 year? Soooo many questions that keep you on your toes and holding your breath until the very end. Caisey wrote this book amazenly and it was brilliant and brings the reader into the story with every emotion possible. But so worth it to read this book. I highly recommend this book!!!
