Lisa Burstein is a tea seller by day and a writer by night.
She received her MFA in Creative Writing from the Inland Northwest Center for
Writers at Eastern Washington University. She is the author of Pretty Amy, The

I love books and authors who travel outside the "normal" in paranormal stories and give the reader something new and interesting to read and learn about. In this particular book it took me a few minutes to get my bearings to understand what was going on. We first meet Theo who is like the ultimate gatekeeper. He is the oldest and is on the search for his mate. Gatekeepers have companions and in Theo's case that is his brother Justin. And Justin is an interesting character that I'm hoping there might be a story about him sometime in the future.
Anyways as a Gatekeeper, Theo is tasked with ridding the world of demons and sending them back to Hades. While doing all of this Theo's mate surfaces and he seeks her out and it seems all hell brakes loose, literally and figuratively. Sadie is 18 and graduating from college, graduated high school at 16 and has been an orphan all her life. Her best friend Dasha is the only family she truly has. That is until Theo walks into her life and then everything changes. He pretty much spends most of the book convincing Sadie about the supernatural world and that she is his mate and even after 5 days it's okay they should be together. Sadie is a science major and is all about logic and everything that his happening and what she is feeling doesn't fit into that logic.
While trying to find their way with each other demons are coming out of the woodwork everywhere. They are creating splices/portals everywhere and even though Aggie keeps getting banished and coming back....something that isn't supposed to happen. What in the world is going on in Hades? Well that's the question that everyone keeps asking.
On the flip side of that Sadie is going through some struggles and changes. And that's putting it mildly. So when you mate with a Gatekeeper you go through physical and a lot of emotional changes. Along with that the demons seem the be keen on killing her and following her and kidnapping her....a lot. But Sadie is also looking at where she came from. She wants to know who her parents are and why before she is truly mated she is different. The answers are amazing!!! I was so excited when everything fit together and the reader truly learns about and who Sadie is. The twists and turns and mystery and gasps and adorableness of convection of the love that Theo has for Sadie is amazing in this book. Reese wrote this book perfect and keep the reader interested until the very end. I loved every moment of Sadie and Theo's story and highly recommend you get lost in their story. See if evil will take over the world? Will Sadie and Theo find a way to truly vanquish demons? Will Sadie ever open her heart up fully for Theo? Ahhh I think that was my favorite part of the story Theo trying to win Sadie's heart. I know my heart melted every time he called her love. Epp... but yeah anyways make sure to grab your copy and get lost in this story.
