Mason Jackson knows his marriage to
Bridget is in trouble. He’s been putting in exhausting hours for months to try
to make partner in his accounting firm. He knows that it is putting a strain on
his marriage, but he has
trouble escaping the memory of the poverty of his
childhood. He never wants his wife, or the children they yearn for, to know the
struggle that he endured when he can provide a better life for them. But things
are reaching breaking point; he and Bridget are more like roommates than a
married couple. He needs to think of a way to get their marriage back on track
and what better way than to make Valentine's Day, Bridget's favorite holiday of
the year, a new start for their marriage? Mason puts in place plans for an
elaborate evening designed to surprise Bridget.Bridget is miserable in her marriage, and often longs for the days when they were dirt poor. They may have struggled financially, but at least she had her husband around. Mason is always working, and Bridget feels that he has chosen his work over her. She’s tried to talk to him about the way she feels, but he doesn’t seem to hear her. He just keeps telling her that once he makes partner then everything will be all right. But Bridget is sick of Mason forgetting the things that are important to her … like their anniversary a few months ago. She is at the end of her tether and decides that if he forgets Valentine’s Day, her favorite day of the year, then divorce just might be on the cards.
At the end of the day, this couple has only one decision to make: Time or Money?

I think chocolate and wine should be considered their own food group, and I wish Christmas happened twice a year.
I love the hot summer nights here in Arizona when my family and I play in our pool until late at night, and I hate 99.8% of politicians.

Meagan's Review:
Okay so first off this book is a very short read. It's def one of those book you can read during one sitting. Now my issue with shorter books like this is there is so much that a writer has to fit in that sometimes (not in a bad way) but the story lacks a little for me. This was one of those books.
I really liked the story line. Boy and girl fall madly in love with each other they get married buy a house get into a routine sometime have a child or two get further and further a part, work and other commitments get in a way and lose their way and they lose the passion and love that brought them together in the beginning. For Mason and Bridget this was the case just minus the children. Mason is trying to make partner and set him and Bridget up for life and whilest doing this he ends up never being home. Bridget has had about her fill of being alone and her favorite holiday is coming up; Valentine's Day. After Mason forgot their anniversary Valentine's day is his last second chance, if he disappoints or forgets Bridget is leaving. Mason knows he has a lot of making up to do and plans on doing just that.
This book takes place on Valentine's day. Will Mason be able to make up of months and years to his wife in one night? Or will this be just the push that Bridget needs to leave the man of her dreams and her marriage? You'll have to read this book to find out. Overall, I liked this book I could relate to the storyline and I feel this is something that a lot of couples go through. The only reason I have this book 3 starts is because it was so short and I just wanted a little more from it, but it was still a good read.
