tales are children’s stories, and fate is cruel. Burying her hopes, she’s spent
the last sixteen years focused and driven toward her career, and it’s landed
her with a job at the White House with a gem of a boyfriend. But when her high
school love, Adam Kincaid, walks into the White House as a BBC reporter,
Nicki’s world is thrown into turmoil as she relives their past. Adam has come

I loved Beside Your Heart sooooo much that I couldn't wait to start this one. And let me tell you this book did not disappoint. I fell in in love with Adam and Nicki's story that I just needed more. I needed to know what was going to happen next for these two. Meeting someone in high school and still being in love with them and having that connection after is something rare, but these two it was perfect. There aren't words to describe the love between the two. Nor was the second chance at romance between these two.
So in this book its been about sixteen years since the high school sweethearts have seen each other. They are both established in their careers and in their lives and fate comes into play. Nicki works in Washington with the political system and Adam has become a journalist. Okay so again these two haven't seen each other in sixteen years and as soon as the two are in the same room and see each other it was like no time had passed. The instant chemistry and flare between these two was there. However, when fate is involved life is never as simple as black and white and to love or not to love. These two are in relationships with someone and when they see each other again you can tell the two still love each other. Complication much?
So if we thought that after these two saw each other they were just going to pick up where they left off and run to each other like they do in the movies then think again. There are a few complications that come up and it just isn't going to be that easy. Nicki's boyfriend is a huge obstacle in Adam's way and their jobs also play a huge role. Now one thing that this book did was this one was completely Nicki's POV and there were a few times I was left wondering what Adam was really thinking. (I think I've been spolied lately with pov from the two main characters that I kind of expect it anymore). Now this didn't take away from the overall book, but it would have added to it for a more complete picture.
So what will these two do? Will they both leave their relationships to be together? Will they both stay in their current relationships? Will they be a secret? What about their jobs? Maybe even though fate gave them a second chance they may not take it? You'll have to read this book to find out what Nicki and Adam will choose.
I'm pretty excited for 2014 because Mary is releasing a book Forever Your Heart which is Adam's story and will be told from his POV so YEY!!!!! My list for 2014 TBR pile is getting larger by the day. lol
