Blurb:
The wall between our world and that
of vengeful spirits has protected humanity for more than 400 years. It’s about
to come crashing down.
Ellie Lancaster has lived her whole
life by the site of the mysterious Lost Colony of Roanoke, the Virginia
settlement that vanished without a trace around 1590. Only the descendants of the two men who banished the spirits of an enemy tribe from the material realm know what really happened to the colony. Ellie is one of those descendants—a Curse Keeper. Her father took pains to teach her what he knew of the curse and the responsibilities of its guardians. He taught her that if the two Curse Keepers ever meet, the curse will be lifted, the gate will open, and the raging Native American spirits will be unleashed to seek their revenge.
Despite her father’s seriousness, Ellie has always taken the legend for a harmless fairy tale. Until she meets the darkly handsome, but downright infuriating, Collin Dailey and realizes everything she was told is true. For when they meet, it’s like the air is sucked from the room. Collin’s presence is electrifying… and it’s not just attraction Ellie feels, but the inexorable pull toward her destiny. The prophecy is real, and now Ellie and Collin must battle supernatural forces and their loathing—and passion—for each other to set things right.
The Curse Keepers are all that stand between the world and its destruction.

About the Author:
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author
Denise Grover Swank was born in Kansas City,
Missouri and lived in the area until she was nineteen. Then she became a nomadic gypsy, living in five cities, four states and ten houses over the course of ten years before she moved back to her roots. She speaks English and smattering of Spanish and Chinese which she learned through an intensive Nick Jr. immersion period. Her hobbies include witty Facebook comments (in own her mind) and dancing in her kitchen with her children. (Quite badly if you believe her offspring.) Hidden talents include the gift of justification and the ability to drink massive amounts of caffeine and still fall asleep within two minutes. Her lack of the sense of smell allows her to perform many unspeakable tasks. She has six children and hasn’t lost her sanity. Or so she leads you to believe.

Meagan's Review:
Can I tell you how much I love Denise? A WHOLE LOT!!! lol I fell in love with Denise's books when I started reading her Rose Gardner Mysteries. The world she paints around her words just pulls you in and you honestly just get lost in her characters and the world surrounding them. And this book was no different from that standpoint, but this book was like nothing I've ever read before from Denise. And this book had everything I could ever want in a book; history, paranormal, drama, romance, humor, action, hawt male lead, and some more romance.
Okay so our story circles around our main character Ellie. And Ellie is a Curse Keeper because she is a descendant of the lost colony in Roanoke, Virginia (Eppp...this is the 4th time I've heard about this colony and it's history and I can't get enough of it...Thank you Sleepy Hallow t.v. show for introducing this). Normally this is something that (the select few) come into when they turn 18. But because when Ellie was 8 years old she tragically lost her mother her and because of that loss she doesn't really take being a Curse Keeper seriously and pretty much doesn't fully believe and doesn't take the responsibilities that she will have to take on seriously. On the flip side of that our other main character and Curse Keeper is Collin. Collin has an interesting past too and he can relate to Ellie in understanding loss. However, loss had the opposite affect on him; he's been preparing and training and everything to accept his duty as a Curse Keeper.
And of course one day will change Ellie and Collin's lives forever. So it should be mentioned that Curse Keepers aren't supposed to meet and definitely are not supposed to touch each other. According to legend and all, if they do then the gate holding all the evil spirits of ragining Native Americans will be unleashed and will seek their revenge. But they do have a small window of time to close the gate or fear it will be opened further for the evil spirits. So with that being said the day that Collin walks into New Moon Diner, where Ellie happens to work (duh duh duuuuuuh) everything changes. The way it is described is that the air around these two was being sucked out of them and of course Ellie's reaction was kind of funny...well the thoughts she was having.
So these two begin a journey to perform a ceremony to close this gate. But what's a journey without a little complication like the fact that these two have some major chemistry together. But in the beginning these two bump heads and everything else it's kind of funny. These two constantly fight and argue and honestly don't trust each other. There are a lot of questions left unanswered. Will these two ever get along? Can they ever be together? Will they find everything they need to close the gate? OMG what will happen if they don't close the gates? And that's just the tip of my questions I cant wait to get my hands on the next book because I NEED TO KNOW what is going to happen with these two. This was an amazing book and I highly recommend it.
