Excerpts:
Cal's POV
“I’m sorry, I don’t want to make it harder, and I don’t want to fight with you,” I implored. “But I will fight for you, Shelly. Give me a chance to.”
She was shaking her head again, and a plan formulated in my mind.
“Give me eight weeks,” I said desperately.
“I’m not going to live with you for eight weeks, Cal.”
“No, I get that,” I responded. “Give me eight Saturdays. Eight dates where it’s just the two of us. Give me time to show you why we're so good together, and that I’m willing to bend and compromise to make our marriage work.”
Shelly looked at me thoughtfully.
“Why eight?”
“One week for each year that we’ve been together.”About the Author:

Okay so this book could hit home for a lot of people. Every marriage has some struggle at some point and I would say that a fair amount of them follow Cal and Shelly's predicament. Now my biggest thing personally is that I trust people super easily. My motto is you have my trust until you lose it or break it. With the stunt that Cal pulled I'd question whether I could ever trust that person again. For me it's not a matter of forgiving them, but can I ever trust another word that comes out of their mouth? And how is that a healthy marriage? Do I really want to be with someone that I'll never fully trust again for the rest of my life? And sadly it's not that you don't love that person anymore. It's not whether you can forgive them or not....it's can I ever trust a word you tell me again? Am I going to have to check everything you tell me, because I can't trust you, because one night of stupidity ruined 8 years of an amazing relationship. There's a country song that I love that kind of sums up Cal and Shelly. Let it Rain by David Nail.
Okay so now that that's out of the way onto the story. So Cal heads to Vegas for his friends bachelor party and wakes up the next morning in bed with another woman, who isn't his wife. When he get's home he tells Shelly about his mistake and she ends up leaving. Wanting to file for divorce, Cal talks her into waiting 8 weeks to try and earn her trust and love again. However, with that said I did find Cal's whole in bed with another woman thing kind of off, I feel like I just needed a little more information or background or something.
So then the books turns a little more interesting. I think the difficult thing to judge in this type of situation is what someone would truly do. You can write or say what someone might do, but everyone is different and handles things different. Be it good or bad, it's hard to truly say what one might do. One thing I would be fairly sure of is that emotions would run high along with the betrayal, and even though Shelly and Cal have been together for a long time I get why she didn't want to hear him out. I mean I know if my husband came home from Vegas, told me he woke up with some random girl there I wouldn't want to hear anymore. Now with that said, if I truly agreed to the 8 weeks I don't know that I'd play up a few of the dates. But, again you just never know what some people are thinking.
Now with all of that said I really liked Cal. I loved his character and his truly heart felt sincerity in the effort he was putting forth to try and save his marriage. All of the little things and detail and I just felt bad for the guy. And I really grew to not like Shelly and I just kinda wanted Cal to find happiness with someone else. She really just kind of annoyed me. And again I know emotions would be high, BUT COME ON.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It really made me think about what I might do in this situation. It was a short read, I read it in one sitting, and I love this book because it was something different. I would def recommend this for people to read.
