About the Author:
Barbara
DeLeo’s first book, co-written with her best friend, was a story about beauty
queens in space. She was eleven, and the sole, handwritten copy was lost years
ago, much to everyone’s relief. It’s some small
miracle that she kept the faith
and is now living her dream of writing sparkling contemporary romance with
unforgettable characters.
After
completing degrees in Psychology and English then travelling the world, Barbara
married her winemaker hero and had two sets of twins.
She
still loves telling stories about finding love in all the wrong places, with
not a beauty queen or spaceship in sight.
Where to Stalk Barbara:
When I first started reading this book I wasn't too sure about the concept. Find long lost girl that you loved when you were a kid. Ask her to marry you and become a step parent to your son, but just temporarily so you get custody, wait some and maybe something happens maybe it doesn't, and then go your separate ways if that's the case. Kind of odd. But to each his own. So as I'm going along and learning about Cy and his son Jonty (I love that kid). Why Cy doesn't have custody of his son and all that and honestly the story is kind of sad. But Cy still loves Ellie even after all these years, which of course is going to throw a kink into the story.
I love Ellie's character. She is one of those rare gem kind of girls....the kind that once you have them you never want to let them go. Ellie and Cy's history is rocky and complicated and so sad. Stupid men. But you'll have to read this book to find that out. Anyways as Cy talks to Ellie about his situation and eventually they have an agreement. So the "issue" that surrounds the majority of this book is Jonty. Jonty selective mutism. And while in this little place Jonty has some changes that don't go unnoticed. And I had so many OMG moments and awww moments and that's the beginning of it. The other piece of this book that I loved was that Ellie has some demons in her past and because of that she doesn't see herself as mother material. Although being with and around Jonty gives her second thoughts. I truly loved this book with the characters and the history and the entire situation surrounding Cy, Ellie and Jonty. I would definitely recommend this book as a romantic weekend read.
