Cover Reveal: Capstone (Cornerstone Series #4) by Misty Provencher

And now onto the cover reveal of the fourth and final book in the Cornerstone series.

Blurb:

It's supposed to stink. That's what Cusps do.
The Ianua, Nalena and Garrett's own community, have welcomed them back by charging them as traitors and chucking them into the Hotel Celare's slammer.
And outside the fortress walls, it's no better.
The Cusp is at full-boil as the world finally surrenders to The Fury's lifestyle. Looting, riots, murders—every kind of crime has become the norm—and The Fury want to make it all permanent.  They might even succeed, now that they've nabbed all thirteen of the Ianua's Cornerstones.
To preserve mankind, the only chance the Ianua have left is to beat The Fury to the Earth's Core and somehow trigger the Reset.
Like that's easy.
There's no manual on how to activate a Reset. Nobody even knows if there’s an actual Core to the Earth.
Shoot, it could be one big myth; an epic waste of effort.
But the Addo thinks there is one last hope.
Maybe.

So long as someone is willing to sacrifice everything to be mankind's long shot.

Spotlight: Deep Rising by N.R. Rhodes

About the Author:

N. R. Rhodes has worn many hats. She has accumulated degrees in biology, psychology and behavioral neuroscience. A Mensa member and former high school science teacher, she made her way into publishing in a roundabout way and was named Agent of the Year in 2012. It took her a while to figure out what she wanted to do when she "grew up." But books are the perfect fit. As a literary agent, she makes authors dreams come true--and, with Deep Rising, she decided to indulge in one of her own.

Dividing her time between New Jersey and Florida, she and her incredibly supportive husband enjoy traveling, family and friends. Her stepson Christian is one of her greatest joys.

Where to Stalk:

Blurb:

In his nine-year stint with the CIA, Jared Caldwell thought he’d seen it all. But when his latest mission instructs him to apprehend a beautiful scientist who’s allegedly linked to a devastating new form of warfare, he isn’t prepared for the prospect of battling man-made tsunamis—or the misplaced feelings he harbors for his number one suspect.

The irony of being accused of crimes her research was intended to prevent isn’t lost on Svetlana Orskya. She also didn’t expect her wish for a strong, sexy man to sweep in and change her life to come true—especially not when he appears, gun in hand, pointed at her.

But time is running out and Jared and Lana must work together to protect the mainland. As the heat between them—and the threat of mass destruction—rises there is more at stake than just their hearts.

Excerpt:

“It certainly is a lovely night,” Jared said. “Ain’t that right, darling?” He drew Lana closer and kissed her. At first she tensed. But because she looked so damn beautiful, he allowed his tongue to slip past her lips.
Her mouth felt great. She tasted even better. His tongue traced hers, exploring, teasing. And he took his time about it, stroking his tongue against hers, learning her taste and the contours of her mouth. Yeah, he’d wanted to kiss her back in the hotel room—and he nearly had. But alone in that room, with a king-size bed not twenty feet away from them, he wouldn’t have stopped with just one kiss. It would take him hours to explore a body as perfect as hers, and time wasn’t a luxury they could afford just now, so he’d curbed his hunger—for all of two minutes. Because that’s how long it took them to ride the elevator to the lobby and to pass through the atrium onto the beach. Oh, he knew he couldn’t afford too much of a distraction, and he knew just kissing her was totally, utterly, irrevocably crossing a major line. But he didn’t give a damn.
And she was kissing him right back.
Her tongue did a swirl and when she used her teeth and ever so-perfectly bit his lower lip, he was grateful for the audience. They were the only thing stopping him from lowering her to the sand and doing more than some nibbling. He could kiss her for days. Her mouth was so soft and eager beneath his. But this wasn’t the time or place, and if/when word got back to Gordon that he was smacking lips on government time, he’d have to spin it as an intentional ploy.
Lying never did sit well with him.
He retreated, planting one more kiss on her sexy mouth. Turning his attention to the other couple, he tightened his grip on Lana’s shoulders, reminding her to play along. Her eyes were shuttered. And from the small gasp that escaped her sweet lips, he figured she was as shocked by that kiss as he had been. It was satisfying to know this forbidden attraction wasn’t entirely one-sided, but now having tasted her, having felt her response—oh yeah, she’d slung her arms around him and kneaded at the muscles on his back—it would be damn near impossible to go back to the professional, platonic relationship required of them.
Shit.

He should’ve practiced more restraint. But seeing her in that hotel room and touching her smooth skin had made resisting her futile. So he’d taken advantage of an opportunity. And he wasn’t sorry about it. No, he amended, he was sorry about the jacked-up situation they were in, and the fact that he should keep a clear head but he couldn’t when she was within ten feet of him. But the one thing he wouldn’t regret was her response to him. She’d kissed him back. Tentatively at first, but then when she had responded in kind, he’d felt it clear to the soles of his feet. It was the justification he’d needed, to know this insane infatuation wasn’t only on his part.

Blog Tour: Heaven and Hellsbane by Paige Cuccaro

About the Author:

Paige lives in Ohio, with her husband, three daughters, three dogs, and three cats, in an ever shrinking house. When she's not writing she's doing the mom thing with a book in one hand and a notepad and pen in the other. Ideas come without warning and for her, the best way to stimulate her imagination is to enjoy the imagination of someone else.

Where to Stalk Paige:

Blurb:

Emma Jane Hellsbane just unwittingly triggered a whole bunch of nephilim to come into their powers—and this new army has teamed up with Bariel, demon straight from Hell, who’s made it his mission to kill all the magisters on Earth. When they come after Eli, Emma and Officer Dan must work together to save him, but this makes Eli all the more tempted to Fall for Emma. And his fighting his feelings for her means Heaven has taken notice.

Now Emma isn’t just fighting off demons, rogue nephilim and Fallen angels, she’s defending her womanhood to the judgmental Seraphim angels, too, who want to separate Eli from Emma Jane. Can she protect Eli, Officer Dan, and find her rogue father? For Emma Jane, it’s all in a day’s work as Heaven’s ultimate bounty hunter.

My Review:

I feel that here lately I'm falling into a pattern with all of these awesome books. My delima is that I want to give you as much information as I can without giving away the entire books or really important parts of the book. Here lately I'm struggling with that because I feel that if I give too much away I'm going to give away the entire book and then why would you want to read it? You wouldn't because everything would be in my review. Let me start off by saying that I loved this book. I loved the characters and the background history and how in-depth the entire story is. I love Angels and Fallen Angels and Nephilim and everything that goes with them like the battle of Heaven and Hell.

I love Emma Jane (at first I was all about calling her Emma, but that quickly changed) and her sassy smart ass ways and her constant talking back. And of course I love Eli....I knew I'd like him from the first moment he interrupted Emma Jane and Dan's date. (As a side note I should mention that I unfortunately did not have the chance to read the first book before reading this one, but I am definitely planning on going back to do that). Eili is described as being "Everything angels were supposed to be; tall, broad-shouldered, with a strong, athletic build. He had the looks that could steal a woman's breath, keep her speechless for seconds. His silky, black hair hung in soft waves over his forehead, enhancing his startlingly pale cloud-blue eyes." Then we have Dan, who is half human half nephilim, but his powers are dormant because he hasn't picked up a sword yet and he is also a police detective. He knows what Emma Jane is and all about the supernatural world and to his credit still wants to be with Emma Jane and sees a future with her.

Anyways apparently Eli has this uncanny ability to always interrupt Emma Jane's time with Dan (which I personally don't mind because I'd rather see her with Eli anyways although that's a whole other story). They need to begin an investigation that will carry through most of the book about particular killings. The crime scene that Eli takes her to has writing written on the wall talking about "the coming" and we find out that magisters and their illorum charges are being killed. Now since Angel's cannot truly get involved without starting up the war again this could become a game changer. Because we find out that some illorum marks are different....dark almost. And the question becomes how can that happen? They finally get a name and are called Gibborim and basically side with evil and demons and the Fallen Angels.

And then there's the Angel council and Fred....I mean Fraseal....no crap that's not right either its Fraciel. However, that's just too much work to do so I agree with Emma Jane and he shall be called Fred. Anyway OMG I HATE FRED!!!! He is the biggest horriblest horrid angel I've ever met. I mean I get that the general consensus is that the Angel's slightly dislike humans because of God's unconditional love for us and that we are always forgiven when we seek it. BUT OMG does he really have to hate humanity that much as well as nephilim I mean it's not their fault they are what they are. But anyways so Fred shows up way too many times for my taste and I don't particularly like the way he speaks to Eli, but not a whole lot I can do about that. But he works with and for the council and they are made of up 7 Arc Angels (although I have qualms about this group). The front runner or "general speaker" is Michael, no surprise there. However, my one surprise is how much I hated Gabriel. He was always one of my favorites, but after this book, I just can't quite look at him the same.

So back to the the story. So Dan and Eli don't like each other and every time Dan and Emma Jane try and have some normalcy in their life something always comes up. To the point that it could seem like Emma Jane is always choosing Eli over Dan. Now at the same time, he is her teacher of sorts and when supernatural things happen (as they tend to do) she has to go. It's not like she's choosing Eli, but she has a "job" to do. And Dan's a cop come on he should understand this kind of thing.

Anyways as the story goes on the relationship between Eli and Emma Jane does kind of change. It's kind of hard to describe, because something happens and it makes Emma Jane realize something on a different level. The question becomes will the Angels be able to step in, in time to save Eli, or are they already to late? Will he end up falling? Does he love Emma Jane more than an Angel of God should? How far will she let him go? Can she save him? Soooo many questions with these two that I loved every.single.moment of it.

There are a few plot twists in this book that keep the reader hanging on till the very end. And even when all hell is breaking loose (so to speak) I found myself cheering for certain things. Another big storyline in this book was Emma Jane locating her biological father, the Fallen Angel whom she has to kill to go back to a normal life. I had my suspicions throughout the book, but it wasn't until I was about half way through that I started piecing things together, but it was well worth the build up. Because of free will Emma Jane makes a few life changing choices and she will forever be shaped and changed by.  I can't wait to see what is to come in the next book for Emma Jane, her father, Eli, Dan and both Heaven and Hell. Who will win the war this time? Is there really just a good and evil side? Or a middle ground that can be found? You'll have to read to find out these answers as well as sooo many more.

So go pick up your copy and don't forget to leave comments with your thoughts.

Everyone remembers the day the sky went black. They remember the screams as the blackness ate those who were out in the open, those who surrounded themselves by light, and those who made noise.

Everyone remembers the voice from the sky, the way food disappeared.

Everyone remembers the day the sky went black, and the sun was wiped from the sky.

At least that’s what I hope. I hope that there is an ‘everyone’ that will remember.

I hope that I am not alone.

Because I remember.

About Abby:

Ever since Abby Niles picked up her first Sweet Valley High book in sixth grade and fell in love with Elizabeth and Todd, she’s been hooked on romance. By the time she reached high school, she was devouring meatier romances with pirates, cowboys and knights. She never imagined that those years of reading would one day lead to her becoming a published author.

In her late twenties, after having twins and becoming a stay-at-home mom, she started doodling stories to keep her sanity. Next thing she knew, she was actually submitting to publishing houses. And was immediately rejected. That didn’t stop her though. She found herself some kickass critique partners, honed her craft, and continued submitting.

And eventually sold a short story, then a novella, then a novel, and now a series.

Today, she juggles work, home life, and writing. It’s not always easy, but hey, who said life was easy?

In her downtime, which isn’t often, you can find her playing ‘Just Dance’ with her kids or trying to catch up on her never-ending to-be-read list. She also loves Zumba, and refuses to admit she looks more like Animal doing his Muppet flail than a sensual Latin dancer.

About Kendra:

Kendra Leigh Castle was born and raised in the far and frozen reaches of Northern New York, where there was plenty of time to cultivate her love of reading thanks to the six-month-long winters. Sneaking off with selections from her mother’s vast collection of romance novels came naturally and fairly early, and a lifelong love of the Happily Ever After was born. After graduating from SUNY Oswego (where it also snowed a lot) with a teaching degree, Kendra ran off with a handsome young Navy fighter pilot and has somehow accumulated three children, three dogs, and one enormous cat during their many moves.

While stationed in a remote corner of the Nevada desert, Kendra penned her first romance, and a career often spent working in fuzzy slippers and pajamas was born. Her work has garnered both critical praise and award nominations, but the best part has been connecting with readers who share her love of dark romance (not to mention heroes with sharp, pointed teeth). Kendra currently lives in Maryland, and can usually be found curled up with her laptop and yet another cup of coffee working on her next book. She loves to hear from her readers, and can be contacted via email or her Facebook page.

Blog Tour: Relic by Renee Collins

This review was a book that I received as an ARC. This was a completely new author to me, but after reading this book I have truly come to love this book and its author Renee Collins.

About the Author:

Okay so because Renee Collins is such a new author there is not a ton of information out about her just yet. However, here is a little blurb about her. She is a young adult writer who loves historical settings, magic and semi-tragic romance. Relic is her first novel, set in the Old West, which is to be
released in late August. With what little I know about Renee I have come to love and enjoy her little quirky sense of humor. I stole this from her latest blog post:

"I've decided that "blurb" is one of the strangest words in the Writing World vernacular. Say it five times, and you'll see that I'm right. Sometimes it sounds like an expression of distaste. "Bluuuuuurb." And that's ironically appropriate. The process of procuring blurbs for your novel is universally agreed upon to be one of the least fun aspects of getting published. The whole situation feels a lot like asking the coolest guy in school to the Prom. The fear of rejection runs strong. Personal insecurities blossom. But then! Sometimes you hit the jackpot."

This little tid bit of information about her just makes me want to befriend her and talk to her for like 10 minutes. I can tell now that stupidity would fly out of both of our mouths in the short time and we would just laugh so hard our sides would hurt.

Blurb:

After a raging fire consumes her town and kills her parents, Maggie Davis is on her own to protect her younger sister and survive the best she can in the Colorado town of Burning Mesa. In Maggie's
world, the bones of long-extinct magical creatures such as dragons and sirens are mined and traded for their residual magical elements, and harnessing these relics' powers allows the user to wild fire, turn invisible, or heal even the worst of injuries.

Working in a local saloon, Maggie befriends the spirited showgirl Adelaide and falls for the roguish cowboy Landon. But when she proves to have a particular skill at harnessing the relics' powers, Maggie is whisked away to the glamorous hacienda of Álvar Castilla, the wealthy young relic baron who runs Buring Mesa. Though his intentions aren't always clear, Álvar trains Maggie in the world of relic magic. But when the mysterious fires reappear in their neighboring towns, Maggie must discover who is channeling relic magic for evil before it's too late.

Relic is a thriving adventure set in a wholly unique world, and a spell-binding story of love, trust, and the power of good.

My Review:

My review for this book is not as detailed as I'd love to make it, but if I start down that road, I'll give away every awesome moment and for me that would be pretty much the whole book. This book captured my attention from the very beginning and held it until the very end and then even some. The beauty and magic that Renee write with reminds me of fairy tales I loved as a child. I'm so excited I received this as one of my first ARCs to review and cannot wait to see what the future holds for this amazing talented author. Now onto my review.

When I first started this book I wasn’t sure what to expect and I’m not going to lie it took me a little bit to figure everything out. So I'm just going to throw this out there. Have you ever watched a T.V. show where you have no idea what's going on, but you're so intrigued that you have to know more so you watch it anyways. And it takes like 8 or 9 episodes of the 12 episode show to figure out what the heck is going on? And you are just so intrigued that you have to continue to find out and understand. Well this book was like that for me, but in a good way.

The book takes please out in the 1700-1800ish Wild West era. Maggie Davis is our wonderful main character and I love everything about her. Her wonderful way to attract the wrong attention, they way she stands out and up for herself and others. The protectiveness that she shows those closest to her, and her fierce undying fire to follow her dreams. After tragedy strikes Maggie’s home town, Maggie tries to start over in Burning Mesa with her little sister Ella. I have mixed emotions about Ella and her bratiness, on one hand I understand it, but on the other suck it up. So as Maggie earns her keep and money working at a local saloon she ends up making friends with the last person in the world Maggie ever though she would, Adelaid the show girl at the saloon. I should mention that Maggie is very conservative during this time frame and Adelaid is pretty much the exact opposite. So of course the become the best of friends.

The richest man in the area is Á var Castilla and when he finds out about Maggie’s special talent with relics he immediately becomes interested in her. Eventually, he makes it so that Maggie and her sister Ella come live with him and have the best of everything. I was very very suspicious of this, but Maggie was trying to do right by her sister so you'll have to read to find out what happens with that situation. Álvar invests a lot into all different types of relics, especially rare ones. One of my favorite scenes involves, Fairy Relic Powder, and when I read about the vals vuelo de Espana I was so involved and taken with the story that it was all I could do to not imagine myself being there during that time.

There is a lot that goes on in this book. We learn a lot about the Apaches, especially Maggie’s friend Yahn, and their rising revolts on the towns. We also get to learn about Landon. OMG I love Landon. He is the perfect mix of cowboy/western gentlemen/ladies man/sweet talking/smooth shooting/riding man of my dreams. If I could go back in time to be in this era, it would be worth it to just get a chance at being with Landon.

So if you haven’t picked up yet relics are the main gist of this story. The way the history of relics and their uses are described just pull the reader in to want to know more. It’s pure magical and one of the greatest forms of imagination I’ve ever seen. Two things that get me more than anything else is any form of magic and love. Adding some awesome history to that and AMAZING writing only makes this book so much better.

I loved that this book wasn’t cut short and fully explained everything it needed. Of course there are a lot of plot twists that keep the reader guessing until the end about what is going to happen. Although at one point Maggie got pretty mad (which doesn’t really happen) and all I kept envisioning in my head was that she was going to have flames shooting out of her arms and destroying everything in sight to get to her destination. I’ve never quite read a book like this and I’m so excited that as a new author I was able to get the chance to read this amazing book and help promote it. I can’t wait to see what will happen next for Maggie.

So leave some comments with your thoughts and make sure to go get your copy.
